Another blog? Really?
Am I actually doing this?
This is what I say to myself on a regular basis. There are so many blogs out there – does the world really need another one?
If I’m being honest, I have an internal struggle with the idea of becoming a blogger. Let’s be real: I’m not some all-knowing, oh-my-gosh-I’ve-already-achieved-so-much sort of person. I’m just a normal girl who wakes up (usually late), goes to work, tries to find time to eat healthy and see my friends, and occasionally accomplishes something cool. I feel like I still have a lot of learning and growing up to do. In fact, I wrote “normal woman” originally in the previous sentence and I felt weird about it so I changed it to girl.
Okay, so now that I’ve told you all the reasons why you shouldn’t take me seriously… let me dive into why you should.
- I work hard and I love to tackle new challenges. I am putting my heart and soul into a platform that I believe can really help people like me navigate the crazy professional world while, at the same time, taking it as an opportunity to learn some new things for myself.
- I am a trained researcher. In fact I have a master’s degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology where I learned how to scour research and databases for relevant and valid insights. I’m not always going to be the expert but I promise I know how to find those experts and compile helpful information for you!
- I am living this life with you. I’m not an outsider looking in trying to give you advice. I am navigating the world of being a millennial in the professional world right along side all of you. My content is and will continue to be inspired by my everyday experiences – and those of people in my community.
- I am a professional communicator. With over seven years of experience in the communications industry, many people have actually paid for my advice. I have counseled public officials, corporate executives, and non-profit leaders on how to effectively communicate to achieve their target outcome.
So… finally, a little bit about why I’m doing this.
For better or for worse, so much of our lives revolve around work and I quickly realized how much my professional roles and responsibilities have dictated every aspect of my daily life. Everything I do, from my fitness routine to my social life, has been established around the demands of my career. And that’s okay – to an extent. Finding a balance between professional and personal demands is the only way we can avoid burnout, feel fulfilled, and achieve our goals.
I deeply believe the best way to improve workplace satisfaction is by empowering employees to advocate on their own behalf. I give you the tools to do just that.
My mission is to provide you (and other young professionals) tools and resources to help you successfully – and healthfully – navigate the professional world while creating balance in your personal life. I am building a community where young professionals are supported mentally and physically while feeling empowered to achieve.
